Our motto is that communication is key! We believe that discussing your needs and requirements in person is the best way of understanding your requirements, as well as viewing the area so that we can visualise the work needed to create your vision.
Following this visit, we promise to contact you within 5 working days with a no obligation, written quotation.
Should you agree to our proposal, we will clarify all the details with you, such as timescale and sourcing of materials, as well as clarifying any other information you may require.
We will hold regular reviews with you to ensure that you are satisfied with the work we have done so far. Of course your requirements may chance during the course of the project and we are happy to revise any plans at any stage of the process. We will also issue you with a revised quote to help you budget for the chance. We always commit never to undertake any changes until you agree to them.
Throughout the project, we will strive to be a tidy and unobtrusive as possible. At the end of the project we will clean up the site and remove any waste materials.
Only when you are completely satisfied with the outcome will we sign the project off.

Meet The Team
Meet David
David is the owner of the business. He has had a long career in landscaping and dry stone walling, having worked at Fountains Abbey, and done volunteer work for the North Yorkshire Dales.
Meet Ian
Ian is one of our sub-contractors. As a retired policeman, he has had a change in career late in life, and enjoys the challenges of landscaping and dry stone walling. Ian also helps at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre.
Meet Christine
Christine is another of our owners as well as our Director of Administration. She ensures our estimates and invoices are thorough and competitive. Christine also ensures that we purchase the best materials for our clients at the most reasonable price.
Meet Mark
Mark is another of our sub-contractors. The business is a family affair, as he is David’s brother-in-law. Mark has also had a change in career, as he has worked as a physiotherapist for many years. He also has experience volunteering for the North Yorkshire Dales.
Meet Henry
10 Downing Street has Larry, Chief Mouser, here at Northern Walls we have Henry, Supervisor and Quality Control.
Meet Beth
Beth is our Director of Marketing. She runs our social media accounts, manages the website, helps with the accounts and is David’s daughter. Beth is a full time music teacher, and during the school holidays changes roles to become a sub-contractor.
Meet Nora
Nora is the newest member of the team, and in the short while she has been with us, she has helped tremendously!

“We have a beautiful 250 year, or thereabouts, old Yorkshire stone wall along our back garden boundary. It was leaning backwards in one corner and starting to crumble in a few places. Dave and Ian came to give us a quote last year to repair it. We had to wait a while as it’s been such a wet winter and spring, and they had a lot of work on. Dave contacted us on Wednesday and came over on Thursday to start the job. He tapped every square inch of mortar to check the state of it and decided it didn’t all need replacing, as it’s a real feature of the wall - it has shells and bits of stone in and it would’ve been a complete shame to lose it all. So he repointed the limestone where it needed repointing only.
The area at the top that was leaning backwards and crumbling had a massive root in it that had wedged way down between the two stone layers. He carefully removed all bits of the fibrous root, moving some of the heavy stones to do this. He then underpinned the part that was falling backwards, secured the two parts of the wall together and rebuilt and repointed it to look perfect. I could have watched him all day! He is so talented in what he does, a true artisan who knows his craft. And he was brilliant at dealing with my very grumpy neighbour to negotiate working on her side of the wall when needed.
Our wall is restored to full health! It will stand for another 250 years at least. It is, without a doubt, the focal point and feature of the garden. We are SO grateful. I cant recommend this company enough. THANK YOU Dave!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”

About Me
David Edwards, owner of Northern Walls, has over 28 years experience working in rural crafts. He is a Master Dry Stone Waller and landscaper.
He has previously worked for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the National Trust, the latter of which included a 10-year period as Senior Landscape Gardener at Fountains Abbey. Fountains Abbey is a UNESCO world heritage site.
